Hi Joan, The best thing is probably to look at www.microsoft.com and see what their upgrade policy is. The person will have to check that their existing machine can support windows xp home edition (which is probably the best upgrade option for them). Naturally, there is likely to be some cost involved, though if you have an existing windows license, then there should be some sort of discount.
