Hi all

The committee met last week and, I just wanted to update you all on what's
currently happening with VICS.

Jamie Regan has decided to step down as treasurer of VICS. We would like to
thank him for his work with us over the past few months.

Ciaran Ferry will take on the role of treasurer until the next AGM. He will
be dealing with VICS subscriptions. It is 10 Euros for waged members and 5
Euros for non-waged members. There are a few options for members to pay their
subscriptions:
Using PayPal
By bank transfer
Cheque/postal order
You can e-mail Ciaran at treasurer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You can also get information on the VICS website at www.vicsireland.org.

Esmond Walshe has put together a submission on behalf of VICS which will be
submitted to Aerlingus. It outlines the areas of the website that are proving
problematic to screen reader users and ways that Aerlingus might overcome them.

Kerie Doyle has been working on podcasts for VICS. She has recorded a podcast
on how to navigate the IPhone using VoiceOver and, for those of you thinking of
purchasing this device, this would be well worth a listen. She is currently
working on a podcast about the Android phone which she has been using for a
while. It will be interesting to hear her opinion on the accessibility of this
phone. You can find these podcasts on the VICS website.

If anyone feels that they might like to put together a podcast or text tutorial
for VICS members that they feel would be of benefit then, please do so.

We are planning a VICS training day to cater for blind and vision impaired
members of VICS. I will send a mail to the list when the date and venue for
this day have been finalised.

I will keep you posted on upcoming events or other VICS news.

Joan Ann
Chairperson.
