Hi folks,

Wondering if anyone can advise on the following please?

I recently scanned an external drive with Spybot S&D, just to ensure there
was no spyware. The scan was fine, with no threats being found.

However, on exiting Spybot, I got several pop up messages stating
something like “Windows Delay Write was unable to save the file…”

I noted one of the filenames, and it was a folder containing digital
photos.

On opening the folder, the thumbnails were replaced with identical
graphics. When I opened an image, the message
“no preview available,” appeared.

A check of the properties however, suggests that each image is nearly a
meg.

So, are the pictures really gone? If not, how can they be recovered?

I Googled, and found something about this problem occurring when large
files are being copied or moved between drives. In my case though, I was
just scanning a drive with third party software, didn’t think Windows was
doing anything!

Good of BG to help me without my realising it!

Thanks as ever,

Eamonn
