Just select the UK combo box, then 28 + the rest of the num ber. (I have
found that not all land-line numbers in Northern ireland respond to the 048
prefix. Eircom claim that this is in the event the receiving telephone in
northern ireland must be a mobile device; but I am assured by the called
person in this case that it is not. Must be some sort of network
arrangement.) In any event, if 048 does work it may still be cheaper, on
either Eircom's talktime package or the similar one offered by BT ireland,
to ring with that prefix for an hour at the price of a local call instead of
via Skype, where the rate is 2c a minute.
