I don't have any experance with the rota player but I will be open to
olivia's emials. Also I think it's better that we are mainstream and not to
have a single one for just blind and visually impaired users.
  goodluck with making it axcessible

  Dear all,

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, CFIT and RTÉ are supporting a student to do
a project making the RTÉ Player accessible with JAWS. The student is Olivia
Kennedy, a Digital Media Design student from the University of Limerick.
Olivia is now a member of the VICS email list and will be posting a message
soon asking for your help in finding out what the problems are with the
Player. Please don't give your views yet because Olivia will actually be
working on a new version of the RTÉ Player which is significantly different
from the current one. She will want some volunteers to help her investigate
the accessibility of this new Player and assess the success of whatever
changes she makes to it. The outcome will be that the standard Player should
be accessible. We are not talking about creating a separate accessible
version for blind people. This is mainstreaming.

I trust you'll all welcome Olivia and help her if you can. This is valuable
work she's doing and we're pleased that she's decided to bring her
commitment and talent to bear on this.

  All the best,
  Mark
