Hi Paul and all, Keeping my fingers crossed, it seems that changing the mouse has cured the problem. We had already cleaned etc the mouse, but as you say paul it had a very strange effect on the computer. I tried taking out the bad mouse and restarting the machine with no mouse connected and it seemed to have the effect of making jaws run up in demo mode. putting an old, but serviceable mouse instead has cured jaws and the wild behaviour. Thanks a lot Ed -----Original Message----- From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Lists Sent: 28 April 2006 09:54 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] Re: was internet explorer but I am dying of mouse problems. Have you tried a different mouse?. Even while a bad mouse is attached to your computer it will also seem like it is affecting the keyboard and you will find that listboxes, comboboxes etc will all seem to take on a life of their own. Have you tried turning off the PC and taking out the mouse then restarting without the mouse attached and seeing if everything is working correctly. Please outline what measures you have taken as we don't wish to keep going over old ground in trying to help. Hi all, I appealed for help a while back with my mad mouse, but I still haven't found either the real source of the problem or the cure. There is apparentlya mac virus which will do something like what I am suffering from, but I'm using a pc. We got some temporary relief by reloading the mouse driver, about two days, and then it is back again. Symptoms: autonomous opening and closing of programmes and windows. Seems to be provoked by much use of the mouse, but has happened to me when only using the key board and the other day I came back to the machine after a cup of tea to discover that it had had a play all to itself. I am running AVG which is set to update and spywear Doctor. We have tried using a register cleaner, the name of which escapes me, and all to no avail. It is very worrying as potentially it could delete things, particularly since it is not always easy to persuade other people - WWOOFers - to do nothing when it is having a fit and look carefully at what is happening before they do anything when it has stopped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, particularly by my friend and reader who is addicted to the use of the mouse and thus suffers more than I do. Mornen everyone, I'm having a wee problem with internet explorer. The application (IE version 6) opens up ok when i choose it and i get my home page which is google. However, when I do a ctrl home to enter a web address, IE6 just hangs and i have to close it. When I re-open it, i can click on any of my favourites and they will open ok. I can also do a search in google and it will work fine. But, cntrl home will not. I did the following. 1. used add aware and removed 46 items of spy ware from my pc. 2. ran a full virus scan and found nothing. 3. rebooted pc but no joy. Please help before i have to pull the few last remaining strands of me hair out. Brian. -- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
