Maureen,
I think this just means that NVDA has not been able to grab the window that
you have switched to. I just press al+tab to move away from the windows and
alt+tab to come back to it. NVDA usually manages to grab the focus of the
window then.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of "pane", when it comes up it seems to
