I've been having great fun over the last week or so playing with
Alessando's midilearn branch of yoshimi:

Note that if you do try it, you can adjust most of the params under
ADsynth and under FX but you can't adjust them in realtime until you
have assigned that control a cc and then you must use either a
physical controller or the dial in the MIDI controllers window NOT the
original Yoshimi controller.
Al has quickly addressed all the issues I identified (it now works
with JACK session for one) and although I haven't actually got round
to using these new abilities in a track yet, it would seem to be quite
a powerful addition to Yoshimi's feature set, one which I am very glad
to see finally arrive. It is at a stage now where I think it is
certainly ready for wider testing so I'd like to hear what others,
esp. Cal and Will have got to say on this and what Cal's thoughts are
on getting this extension merged into the official tree?
