Some notes about how it went.
Firstly thanks for the good wishes... that I've only just seen :)
Fortunately none of the public saw the single segfault that occurred late in
the afternoon.
There was a lot of interest. Many people were quite stunned by the range and
depth of sounds possible.
Solo was liked by a couple of musicians that play live sets.
Our MIDI-learn implimentation was much appreciated.
There were several seriously good keyboard players putting yoshimi through
it's paces. One guy *really* got into 'Overdrive' with some great riffs
including tasty use of the pitch bend control.
One blind guy was being taken round by a friend. He played a few notes then
asked whether it could take a screen reader. I was rewarded by a big smile when
I said it could :)
Fewer people than I expected seemed interested in creating their own sounds, but
those interested where highly appreciative of the different engines, kits and
crossfade - with one 'fuckin hell' when the guy mentally put together all the
possibilities!
There were also a couple of 'Wow's when I showed the demo of Yoshimi being set
up and run entirely from a MIDI file.
Everyone who started changing instruments/banks seemed to immediately 'get' the
structure and the MIDI relationship.
Several people picked up on the idea of running Yoshimi headless as a MIDI
controlled synth 'module'.
There were a few calls for an OSX version - strangely none for Windows.
Just one person when told that Yoshimi was Linux only, rather rudely said
"Well, it's useless to me." and walked off.
There's a lot more, but I can't remember it all now - I just have a nice
feeling :)
Finally, I took 30 flyers that I printed myself - only 6 remain!
