Everything was running really nicely. I just uploaded my latest tune to
the KVR competition when I noticed there were xorg upgrades available,
so I thought 'might as well keep things tidy' and boom!

Half way through the upgrade synaptic informs me there is an error and
halts. Suddenly half of X has gone, vanished into that great bit bucket
in the sky.

I am not a happy bunny x(

Cal, I noticed you said you were using squeeze. How did you go about
this? Are you using a RT kernel?

I did try compiling a kernel some time ago, but gave up when I kept
getting it wrong, and couldn't work out why.

I've made several attempts to use ubuntu studio, but never had any
success at all with that.

I really, really, don't want to go through this rigmarole all over
again, only to risk another collapse.

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
