Maybe I missed a mail but I've read of no one else's splash
screen vs. wm adventure. I just saw you mentioning it above.
With evilwm, the splash screen fails to disappear duly, instead persists
until
application quit. It's always is in the foreground (except while
dragging other
windows across) and refuses to be closed by the usual window-closing
means.
I can, however, move it across workspaces, so I personally don't mind
having
yoshi's splash screen hanging out somewhere – perhaps not to everyone's
taste
though and a bit annoying with several instances.
That's similar to the other complaint, only the other person can sit other
windows on top of it, after it's timeout (about 3 seconds).
Does the splash screen switch in Settings>Switches disable it completely if
un-checked, saved and then restarted?
Originally the screen was modal, which stopped all GUI activity till it timed
out with an fltk timer. It also slowed down initialisation generally. Then I
tried to keep the timer, just continually refreshing the splash to keep it
on top, but the timer became less reliable, and some WMs managed to still put
other windows on top - partially.
This latest one uses an emulated timer based on the gui refresh rate. It seemed
to work dramatically better here on debian :'(
