A true story. In 0.056-pre[0-1] I changed alsa audio (seems to be for the
better), then quite some time later discovered I'd killed alsa midi for
the jack audio + alsa midi case. Its fixed in 056-pre3 (not yet published).
The 056-pre's contain some fairly radical restructuring to accommodate
dssi functionality, hence lots of potential for breakages. For now I'd
suggest avoiding them until we (Stephen Parry & I) get a little further
along with that effort.

Also, I have a slightly inferior setup at the moment, so things are
likely to fall over more easily. I've noticed that when I push the
voices to the limit yoshimi (055-3) goes into xruns and the audio part
gets kicked out by jack.

And that is so depressing :-(. Not sure how to help you here. If the
basic system isn't quite rock solid super smooth, the xrun collapses
happen way too early for comfort.

Loading of parameter sets and voice patches seems slower. This isn't a
problem, but I thought I'd mention it in case it's some oddity of my
setup.

I've noticed that too, and I've no real idea why it should be. Short
term I really don't have a solution, just a theory or two. Ultimately
I think libmxml has to go (theory #1). This week I took a first look at
librdf, but there's the dssi monster to settle down first. But then
Stephen has dicovered a show stopper with mxml in the dssi context, so
I might have to deal with it sooner rather than later.

Otherwise still truckin' :)

Good to hear Will! I'm down to old kombi status - much loved, but
breaking down regularly, always in need of repair, and occasionally
have to reverse up hills to get to the top.

cheers, Cal
