I've actually been wondering how volume works in Yoshimi, and I agree with your
suggestions on both counts.

I also have a couple of (more selfish) questions -

1 - In the part out mixer panel (I do most of my stuff through part outs) where
is the clipping point? The very top of the meter? If it is, I think it might be
friendlier to have an extra measure over the limit to make it clearer.
And where is a reasonable point to set the part volume to max out at? Two
measures below the max?
I'd really like some labelling on the meters. Or even just to have the 0db line
bolded.

2 - I'm slightly confused by the external modulation feature works. Is the idea
to have the sound wave last in the list of voices, with any modulating
oscilators preceding it? Other voices don't seem to appear as external
modulators unless they come BEFORE the current voice.

Up till now the master volume control has also affected the individual track
bargraphs in the mixer panel. This seems quite wrong to me. I've never heard
of any other mixer (real or virtual) that does this, otherwise how can you see
what the drive levels are and whether you've driven individual parts into the
clipping area? I'm inclined to remove this.

Similarly, the actual separate part outs (corresponding to channel sends in a
real mixer) are modified by the main volume. This is also unlike any mixer I've
come across. Should this also be changed so only the parts individual volume
controls affect these outputs?

Thoughts please. If possible, I would really like to have this settled before
pushing out V 1.2.4

Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
