FWIW I used to get these sort of issues a lot on debian with all sorts of
programs I was compiling. I never did understand how it all worked, but since
squeeze the issues all went way except for with Rosegarden where I have to use:
./configure --with-qtlibdir /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
That's probably not a lot of help but might flush out some ideas.
