Joe,

I'm sure the product key you entered is probably on the hard disk, in the
registry somewhere,  but is likely to be buried deep inside the registry and
I don't advise  rummaging around in there.

Another thought is if you're at the stage where you're reinstalling windows
I would have imagined that you wouldn't have access to the hard disk. Having
said that perhaps you haven't started the reinstall yet?

Nope! getting the number from the CD case is still the easiest option.

When you do get it, it might be a good idea to make a note of it in case you
ever need it again, you could put it onto some kind of label and stick it to
the CD case.

I'm assuming you'll need sighted help to reinstall windows, perhaps the
person helping you could read the product key for you?

I know I wouldn't like to try installing windows 98SE as a blind person
myself, too many things can pop up on-screen and I'd be stuffed.
