Hi Carol.
Just to add to david's post here, Roberts do a world band range, these in a variety of models from Analogue to digital tuners. All as far as I know have internal speakers and if your looking for longwave these are your best bet as many radios today are just AM and FM.

Roberts do a range of small -pocket-sized radios which are not bad quality. 
One has an internal speaker, others just have earphone sockets.

Sadly, my husband's very portable radio (with its own speaker) has sadly
died.

We need to replace it as soon as poss and are looking for FM, AM and long
waves and it must have its own speaker with a reasonably decent sound and
remain small.

Any suggestions of particular current makes/models would be welcome?
