Actually Jonathan I am not sure that you grasped my point of putting my post on list. the issue related to no Braille or tactile ID from community Police and not to my mugging personally. I then went on to speak about having to do a video recording of my statement, implicit in this was the fact that I could not write. Well I am not illeterate, however, I can type and write Braille. I denied the video statement and the compramise was that I had to dictate it. The police officer will ow write it up and read it to me next week. If I then state that this is accurate, it will be transcribed in to braille. Hence my reference to alternative format. Kevin did mention that he went for video statement.

I was mugged last Friday and as a blind person with a guide dog, the Police, to be fair, have been extremely supportive

Only just read this, sorry to hear of yet another attack. I hope Barry
doesn't mind, and I don't often go off-topic, but I know there's a
mix of sighted and non-sighted people here, and I wonder if I might
use this thread to help spread the word about an appeal to find two
Eastern European men who attacked a man and his guide dog on the
underground at the end of January. Police have just released CCTV
images, the story is here:

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24037901-find-train-thugs-who-mocked-and-punched-blind-man-and-guide-dog.do

Here's a brief summary:

"Tim Stirling, 27, was travelling with his guide dog Jasmine and a
friend, who is totally blind, when he was mocked and punched by one of
at least two men on the train between Victoria and Shortlands.

One of the men then trod on Jasmine's tail.

Mr Stirling said: "Suddenly I felt this punch to my arm, it did not
injure me but it was obviously not an accident. I asked him what he
was doing and he started questioning why I had a dog at my age and
swearing really loudly. I could not understand a lot of what they were
saying because they were talking in an eastern European language."

Anyone with information should call BTP on Freefone 0800 405040
quoting background reference B6/LSA of 31/01/2012."
