YES YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR 12 MONTHS TO QUALIFY FOR THE FREE SHUFFLE. IF YOU
SIGN UP FOR THE 9.99 PLAN YOU GET A 512MB SHUFFLE NORMALLY COSTING AROUND £45,
IF YOU SIGN UP FOR THE £14.99 PACKAGE YOU GET A 1GB SHUFFLE NORMALLY COSTING
£69.
FOR £9.99 A MONTH YOU GET ONE BOOK AND ONE SUBSCRIPTION A MONTH.
FOR £14.99 YOU GET 2 BOOKS A MONTH.
THEY HAVE ALSO JUST LAUNCHED A NEW PRICE PLAN, FOR £7.99 A MONTH YOU get one
book a month - no shuffle available with this last subscription rate which is
the one I've just signed up for.

There is a long list of players you can use to play the audible content but the
shuffle is among the most accessible of the mainstream off the shelf products,
paqmate, bookport et al are also in that list.

not sure about the limitation of how many players you can use I thought I'd
read this some where a while ago but then having jsut signed up I know that you
can transfer content to the shuffle using Itunes once it's downloaded with the
audible manager ap so not sure how this restriction culd be policed.

Audible only give the shuffle away with their audible listener programmes, and
I think the commitment is 12 months unless anything has changed recently.

You should be able to transfer the audible material to any player provided you
have the Audible organiser installed to receive the downloads. The downloads
are normally encoded as MP3.

        Subject: [access-uk] Audible questions

I wonder if, please, someone would mind clarifying the some questions I
have
        about Audible?

        1. Audible is still offering the Ipod Shuffle as a 'give away'. Is
this
though tied to a commitment to take out a subscription? If so, for what
        period?

        2. What players are people using to play these books? I understand a
proprietory codec or system is used to play and transfer these files. I
understand you may be able to transfer your Audible books to two or
three
        devices. Is this true?

Thanks for any answers to these questions.
