As I understand it this list is to discuss all aspects of access technology for the visually impaired and is not limited to, spit, products. I am delighted you are interested in this subject but would ask you to hold on a bit old man, I have only had use of the leopard and voiceover software for about three days, I am not a superman and it is going to take a while to learn all the in and outs of this package. I have no doubt there are some blind folks out there who have much mor experience of trialling and assesing new technology who might be able to respond to your questions faster than I so if anyone else would care to leap in...

Hi Gordon,

I am very, very interested in your experience so far....I have some
questions however which I will ask on list but maybe we need to email or
something separately...

What software are you planning on using for MS Office type applications e.g.
word processing, spreadsheets? I know Macs come with their own word
processors software, have you used this yet and if so how did you get on or
are you planning on using something else?

How are you getting on with Itunes & voiceover - if indeed this is what you're planning on using - again I know Voiceover access with Itunes has
been greatly improved but wondering what you've discovered so far.

Which software do you think you will still need to use via the windows
virtualisation?

How easy was it to set up the windows virtualisation?

That will do for now, very interested to hear your comments but perhaps
other list members / moderators would rather we did so privately!!
Thanks,

Phil

Well, here I am returned to the list transmogrified in to a mac user.

It's weird at first but I am picking up the new keystrokes quicker than I
thought I would.
Voiceover is clear, if a little idiosyncratic, Alex (the default voice I am using at present) sounds a little harassed at times and I worry that I am putting him under a little too much stress - he is a little asthmatic too!

I still have windows on the dual boot of course but I am using it less each
day.

I am greatly impressed and think this is a move many people could make with
no great trauma (excepting to the bank account of course).
