T currenlty use the Tesco's rental site and this has AD listings for
rental.

Having had a very breif chat with soomeone )(Gill Whitehead I think) at
RNIB I think they created the videos and so they are the only source.
The DVD's are a differnet issue as it is entirely hit and miss as to
whether the UK produciton company schedules the AD soundtrack in to the
dvd prodcution,, even when an AD soundtrack has been created for the
cinema release.

This does seem really perverse to me but then I know that Gill is
continuing to lobby the production companies, with some reasonable
success.

I do thin the bigger issue is why this is not happening on all dvd
releases, it isn't as though there is a shortage of subtitled dvds is
it?

Yeah that's a good idea, however RNIB should sell them as well, in my
view.
Can't understand to be honest why they sell AD videos but not AD DVD's?

Friends

I have been looking around, and there is a long article about this and
other
matters on the following site:

http://www.tvhelp.org.uk/audes/dvd.html

RNIB also have a list of audio described DVD's, but at the bottom it
says
they don't sell them. I think perhaps they should, as all the
information I
have gleaned so far says that you can only tell if a DVD is audio
described
by examining the box. It also says that rental DVD's aren't always in
their
original boxes, so you can't tell anyway.

I think the suggestion that suppliers like Play.com and Amazon should be
asked to include this information is perhaps one way we can draw this
problem to their attention. Perhaps they could include audio described
DVD's as a separate category so that we could find them easily and not
buy
the wrong version.
