hi Simon, i had the same problem with a flat screen monitor and it behaved just
as you described with the same message. out of range. and after trying
everything with manufacture support, they finally gave up and sent me a new
monitor.

  hello list,
I am having a rather strange problem here, this is, that my monitor for some
reason started showing a message that said something like out of time, or
possibly out of timing. thinking it was the monitor that was faulty, I replaced
it, and now this new one is saying out of range.
to cap it all, when connected to another computer, both monitors do what they
should, so I don't know what is causing this problem now.
please has anyone got any ideas as to what is causing this problem, and if
possible how I can fix it? thanks.
