I have tried getting people to send to me via GMAIL and this does indeed work, at least for the one off, but I want to make sure I do it properly and know what I'm going to have to sort, if anything, once I've done this.
I've heard that, having made the switch, some people have had to then re-subscribe to various mailing lists; but I haven't had anyone specifically tell me this first-hand.

If, I get it, there's no reason to tell people that you are now a gmail address.
