[access-uk] Re: Demon customers, please note.

would hate to see this one grow into a major debate as it is really all so
off topic. This is not an access issue, just a message about a problem with
collecting mail. All ISPs have had these problems from time to time. If I
sent every status message I got from plus.net to this list (and everyone
else did) the list would soon become weighed down!

Well a tenuous link to access I know, but I was recently asked that famous
old question about which ISP a blind person should go for.

I know that Demon was at one time considered a good place to go because in
the days of Dos they appointed a person to deal specifically with visually
impaired people, setting up connections etc.

Is there still such a person? I was recently advised by Demon technical
support that, as far as the person dealing with my call knew, there was not
such a person employed by Demon.

Because most providers are the same, unless you go for AOL, I would have
thought that each service provider no longer needs a person particularly to
deal with visually impaired people, though clearly a service is needed for
those wanting to get on line. RNIB could offer this service usefully though
all it seems interested in is campaigning these days.

Regards

Graham

Greetings,

Yes, a very old message, just come across it in my delve back into my
archive and, unusually for me, I leave the original for context, I prefer to
switch off this feature on most occasions.

Both Carol P and Kevin and Emma suggested all Demon customers would receive
this announcement, but no, they don't.

It would seem neither of you actually noticed the message had been forwarded
from the Demon Announce list and that is why I sent it at that time,
considering it important enough.

So, please, before you start sounding off I suggest you read the posts more
carefully.
