Eric Freedom Scientific is attempting to resolve several issues with the JAWS 6.10 release in response to customer feedback. A new release of JAWS 6.10 will be available on Friday afternoon, April 15. Note that if you have already downloaded and installed the 6.10 version posted on April 7, 2005, this new version will install over it and update it. There is no reason to uninstall JAWS. This improved release of JAWS 6.10 will feature the following additional fixes: * MSN Messenger 6.2 should be working again with JAWS as it was prior to the previous posting. This one was related to the Outlook Express/Outlook getting stuck on the top line. The issues came up with several beta testers and we could never get to the bottom of it until the Friday night after we posted. It got fixed last Saturday. The beta testers were most concerned about these two issues. * Problems with DECtalk ACCESS32 and JAWS 6.10 (Unicode version) are resolved. This was not found in the Beta Cycle. It was related to the Unicode changes and it appears I don't have beta testers using our old Access32. We have not sold it for several years now. * When you reply to an Outlook or Outlook Express e-mail message, JAWS will no longer get "stuck" on the first line. Related to MSN. * In Outlook, the keystroke for reading MSAA information will be changed from CTRL+SHIFT+M to ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+M to avoid conflicts with the native Outlook keystroke. Beta missed this. My support guys caught it after we posted. * JAWS will consistently open attachments in Outlook when you select one from the INSERT+A list and press ENTER. This one was introduced in 6.1. The problem only occurred if the mouse pointer was sitting in the Task Bar when you did the Insert A. Most of the beta testers are blind so never figured it out. It happened so seldom it was tough to find but I figured this one out myself this past week. * JAWS will speak properly during installation if MAGic 9.30 is running. This one got introduced late in the cycle and got missed. If you launched MAGic after JAWS was running, there was not problem. * JAWS will speak correctly when selecting text in Outlook message headers. They had reported this one, we just had a hard time solving it. * Solved issues of certain Web pages with frames occasionally causing JAWS to stop responding. This was on very few web sites. for-the-people.com was the one that got reported right after we posted by a user. * Several minor issues in the JAWS online help system are resolved. We are always adjusting for these all the time. * Resolved an issue of occasional crashes in CPRS application used at the Veterans Administration. This has been a long standing issue with the VA. We don't have access to their application but finally got to the bottom of it and put it in. This Message has been scanned for viruses by McAfee Groupshield.
