Thanks Ibrahim, I'm very tempted by the IPhone route, but I haven't had
sufficient chance yet to assess whether I would be able to master it.

I have two further questions at this stage:-

first, does the IPhone need a phone signal to function as a GPS or just a
satellite receiver?

Secondly, is there anywhere you can get a good long look at one to see how
easy it would be to use?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard.

I?d say the IPhone without a shadow of a doubt if your looking for value and
longevity, though there is a small cost in addition to the phone to get the
required GPS software that?ll guide you from door to door. You?ll also have
to invest the time in learning the interface, but the pocket computer that
the IPhone is will do so so much more for you than a dedicated GPS receiver.
However, that said, if you don't want to learn a new interface or want a
simple approach to address entry then a blindness specific product like the
Trekker Breeze would do you just fine.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi,
What do people think is the best GPS solution for a blind pedestrian these
days?

I've never seen anything sufficiently accurate that I could rely on, but
there must be something out there.

I've been thinking about the Trekker Breeze, but wondered if there was
anything better; would consider getting and iPhone if that was a runner, as
it would be cheaper than the Breeze, which seems to be just under £600 with
the new postcode support once it's available.
