Hi Eleanor

Have you investigated the Options in the menu of your Goodmans box?

Here is an extract from the manual. It may help:

Low Power Mode is a way of saving power when the set top box is in Standby.
In standard standby mode (Low power mode switched off), the set top box is
still active and will constantly do background checks of settings and store
certain information into the memory, even though no picture is visible on the
screen and no sound can be heard. This means that the set top box is
constantly drawing power.

When Low Power Mode is enabled and you have switched the box to standby for 5
minutes, it will then go into deep standby. When in this mode, the only
part active part is the remote control receiver. The rest of the box switched
off completely therefore saving power.

With Low Power Mode switched on, whenever you turn the set top box back on from
standby, it will take slightly longer to start up than if low power mode is
switched off, as it performs the system checks during start up.

Use the up and down buttons to select either Turn low power mode on or Turn low
power mode off, and press OK.

Auto standby mode
Auto standby mode will automatically switch off your set-top box after 3 hours
of inactivity from the remote control. A menu will be displayed on screen and
will also be spoken, asking if you want to continue watching TV. If there is no
response to this menu the set-top box will go into standby mode. You can
decide if you want this to happen or not by changing the setting.

Use the up and down buttons to select either turn auto standby mode on, or turn
auto standby mode off, and press OK.
