I'm fairly sure when I worked for RNIB they gave advice   on getting a
box like that to work through a high-fi system, could be worth chasing
up if you don't have or need a telly

Yes. I could get in touch with the DAB (Derbyshire Association for the
Blind) and ask if they could demo me one. This is of course once I get a
television.
