Thanks Barbara and Ibraham, It is an old phone, it's a Nokia N73, which
isn't that old but it will be fine to receive calls on while I'm there and
to send text messages, as I say I'll take my U.K. phone to keep in touch
with people over here because I have international roaming on the phone
anyway but using a mobile in S.A. is pretty expensive but at least my South
African friends can phone me on it but I may go into Vodaphon then tomorrow
to have it unlocked, does it take long?

Mandy

Hi Mandy

There are many sites online who offer an unlocking service for a couple of
pounds. Personally, I never think these really work perfectly. For proper
unlocking I would take your phone to the original network to which it is
locked. It will cost a bit more and invalidate your warranty if it is still
under one, but it will be done properly.
