[access-uk] Help with Victor reader classic

Hi Folks,
I turned the machine off last night, (including the mains)
Went to use it this morning flicked the mains on and switched it on and the
machine will not release the CD. Also, the voice did not say "Welcome to
victor reader classic."
Can anyone help, apart from resorting to the hammer?
