There is an instruction in Word that moves the text automatically to the
centre. I just can’t find it at the moment.

I suppose the sophisticated way to do this would be to increase the top margin
by the requisite amount but I must admit that if I was faced with this problem
I would just insert a number of blank returns into the document to advance the
text down the page towards the centre.
The exact number of returns I would put in would depend on the amount of text
you want to insert.
Depending on the size of your font I think from memory the amount of lines on
an A4 page bvaries between about from 25 - 30 lines. Personally I would use 30
but you may want to check that with an actual document.
Then if say the actual text is say 7 lines long
- I would subtract this from the 30. This would leave 23 lines. I would then
divide this by 2 leaving either 11 or 12 lines to insert. I would just control
home to the top of the page and count pressing the return key 11 or 12 times in
this case.
This would leave the middle line of your short piece of text at about line 15
or in the midddle of the page.
There may be more elegant solutions but I think for most purposes this should
provide a fairly quick and easy solution.
