James,

I would echo others praise in trying to do your bit to improve accessibility to streamed films.

coincidently I received an e mail from the RNIB campaigns team the other day which included the attached.

"A new way to deliver audio description

Until now audio description (AD) users have had no way to watch films and TV programmes with AD on video on-demand services. Technical barriers are cited as one of the reasons for not delivering AD directly via the player, so RNIB will be launching a trial to test a new way to access audio description - on a user's Smartphone or tablet. The trial will use an app called Moviereading which is available for both iOS and Android users.

The trial will launch towards the end of the year (exact dates to be confirmed).

If you are interested in taking part please email
broadcasting@xxxxxxxxxxx. "

Interesting, lets hope something comes of it.

Hello James,

Well done.

My partner has just put together an article for the E-Access Bulletin on the
availability of Audio-description in all its form. We hope it will go out in
the next edition. Do you mind if I pass your email to him, as it will add value
to the piece.

Thanks,
Clive

Subject: [access-uk] Me (and George Galloway) v.s. Amazon

Hello,
As some of you may know, I've been campaigning (a lot) in a one-man crusade to
get audio description added to video-on-demand services.
Well, today I received a phone call from the very helpful George Galloway
(whatever we may think about his political opinions) who I've been talking to a
lot about this, and he has managed to get me a phone call with the chief
operations officer of Amazon's instant video.
Having spoken to the American, I can now confirm that he has pledged, and will
be sending me this in writing (braille and print!) to introduce audio
description onto all of the video-on-demand services that actually come out of
the studio with audio description, estimated at 25 % of all current titles.
