Hi Jackie,

You can't install it without losing Talks. You would have to reinstall
Talks once it is updated. But the new firmware only works with unbranded
phones. Neither Tmobile, Orange or Voda have yet updated their firmware.
So if your N95 is a Voda phone, then you won't be able to update the
firmware.

This is one good reason why I always prefer to buy sim-free, even though it
is a lot more expensive.

You can unbrand your phone, but it will invalidate your warranty.

All the best

Steve

Really Steve? And how would you know that? (laughing).

It is a nice phone, but I haven't used it so don't know if it would be as
lovely as my N91 (smile).

On the subject of phones, I believe there is new firmware for the N95 which
has helped its battery life. How would you go about installing it without
losing TALKS? Ian would like to put this in if it preserves battery life,
but doesn't want to tackle it without first finding out what happens to
TALKS, or else he'll be in the mud!

Hi Jackie,

Just a minor point, it is not a USB port, it is a Micro USB port, which is
even smaller than a Mini USB port, so don't lose the cable if you get one.

Subject: [access-uk] N82 mobile

Hi All

I stuck my nose out the door today in a rare trip to town. While there, I
had a nose at the N82 mobile which is the phone supporting the K-NFB Reader
software.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, the N82 has a large display which occupies
quite a chunk of the front of the handset. Below this, in the centre, is a
square which acts as your four-way joystick with an indentation in the
middle for the accept key. To the right of this square is a backspace which
is a raised button, while the menu button is an indented button to the left
of the square.

Below this, the usual keypad is raised, with a slight separation between
each column. There is a USB slot on the left-hand side of the phone, while
the call and end buttons are situated on the left and right edge of the
phone. There is a headphone socket near the power button along the top of
the unit.

My impression is that I really like the buttons on this handset, but it was
attached to a bracket on the wall in the shop, so I couldn't do much with it
other than feel about. But it gave me enough movement to see it looks quite
interesting. The phone is silver, including the buttons, so I don't know
what sort of a contrast this would make for someone with useful vision.

Hope this is of some help.

Jackie
