Useful Steve as I prefer a dedicated lock personally. My examination was only
fairly brief as it was hanging on a wall bracket in the shop, and I didn't want
to set an alarm off by pulling it about to get a feel for the weight.

It seems to be a cheaper phone to buy SIM free than the N95 was when it first
came out, so I wonder why?

  Hi Jackie,

I believe there is a lock switch on the top, like the N91.

  All the best

  Steve

Andy, they are a bit like the N91 buttons, but I think the columns are
slightly wider apart from left to right.

The joystick doesn't stick up. It is a square, the outer edges of which act
as your arrow keys, with the indentation in the middle being your select.

  Does that make sense?

I think it is less bulky than the N91 yes, but I couldn't actually hold it as
the dummy model was attached to the wall, and I didn't want to pull it in case
I got everyone running!!

The N82 certainly has a large screen on the front, and there is no sliding
door. I didn't find a specific lock on the phone like the N91 has either, so
it looks as if you have to do a combination to achieve that.

Jackie - Are the buttons on the N82 rectangular like on the N91, or are
they more square?

Over all, would you say it was less bulky than the N91? -

      Hi All

I stuck my nose out the door today in a rare trip to town. While there,
I had a nose at the N82 mobile which is the phone supporting the K-NFB Reader
software.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, the N82 has a large display which occupies
quite a chunk of the front of the handset. Below this, in the centre, is a
square which acts as your four-way joystick with an indentation in the middle
for the accept key. To the right of this square is a backspace which is a
raised button, while the menu button is an indented button to the left of the
square.

Below this, the usual keypad is raised, with a slight separation between
each column. There is a USB slot on the left-hand side of the phone, while the
call and end buttons are situated on the left and right edge of the phone.
There is a headphone socket near the power button along the top of the unit.

My impression is that I really like the buttons on this handset, but it
was attached to a bracket on the wall in the shop, so I couldn't do much with
it other than feel about. But it gave me enough movement to see it looks quite
interesting. The phone is silver, including the buttons, so I don't know what
sort of a contrast this would make for someone with useful vision.

Hope this is of some help.

      Jackie
