The message I'm reproducing here was sent to the GW Micro list and is an interesting peep at what goes on within companies. Here's the original message. I'll give a link and email contact for Eset after the main part of this message. A week ago or so there was some concern about the upcoming version of Nod32. So I contacted one of the Nod 32 representatives as you may recall. He was going to a Eset conference and he would get back to me. Below is his response At 09:21 10/10/2007, you wrote: David, sorry I have not emailed you back until now. The partner conference was very busy, and I made a specific point of talking to several Eset representatives about the accessibility issues with the new software. After being bounced from one representative to another twice, I finally ended up talking to Randy Abrams - he is extremely technical and he was aware of the problems with the new software. His response was as I expected, with some extra information for you and the blind community. The basic information are as folllows: 1. there are accessibility issues with Eset NOD32 Antivirus 3.0 and Eset Smart Security - these are known 2. the issues in the new releases are likely to NOT be fixed before the official launch date, but will be fixed within "probably a few weeks" 3. version 2.7 is not going away and no user is going to be forced to update - until the issues are fixed, you are advised to stay with version 2.7. In a nutshell - they know of the problems - they recommend staying with version 2.7 until they are fixed, but expect them to be fixed in due course. I'm sorry that I have no more information than that, but I did make your concerns, and those of the many blind users known - it was a surprise to many of the management that NOD32 has a large number of blind users, but not to the technical staff - which really did worry me. I hope this news has been helpful, and I would hope to have some better news on the progress in several weeks. kind regards Greg Hewitt-Long Eset V3 further info. An email link for comments on the beta would appear to be: betasupport@xxxxxxx The page for downloading version 3 betas is at: http://www.en.nod32.ch/download/beta.php Note, previous versions of NOD 32 should be uninstalled before installing the beta. (In any case doesn't work with access tech, so a waiste of time for folks using it who use a screen reader.) From Ray I can be contacted off-list at: mailto:ray-48@xxxxxxxx
