[access-uk] Re: NTL upgrade to 10 MBPS

I can only imagine what a speed like 10MB would be like. I am on broadband here on the Isle of Man and I am only getting 579KBps at the present time and I have not heard of any plans to upgrade that at the moment.

Mot that I am complaining this is quite fast enough for me.

Yep, i heard about the NTL broadband upgrade. Sounds just brill. I don't know what my speed will go up to as I'm on a 1mb connection but, that's pretty lightening fast for me as it is.

I think, what I red from the report on NTL that we'll need new cable modems in order to get the new speed upgrades.

wonder how that's gonna work out.

Hi All

There was a very interesting interview on radio 5 live the other day where
the director of internet services for NTL said that they were going to
increase all one and a half million NTL broadband users to a standard ten
mega bit service -the upgrade being free of charge.

He didn't however mention when this would happen or what data transfer total
you can download per month.

It seems the upgrades are intended to be a marketing ploy to squeeze the
smaller broadband suppliers who have been pinching NTL's customers recently,
but even so it seems a good deal to me as this time two years ago I was
paying for just 256 kbps.
