Hi Caroline,

I have certainly not noticed any difference, but have only briefly used it
since doing the upgrade. I have not noticed it being particularly sluggish,
or if it is it does not really bother me. In my view the sound quality when
listening to usic files is far better than say the Victor Stream, but it is
annoying that you can't scroll through album names and artists. You can get
album information if you press the info key, but even then you do not get
the name of the artist. But the most annoying thing about the Pocket at
present is the large pauses it inserts when it finds punctuation during the
reading of text files. this used to happen with the Stream, but that has
been greatly improved.

It has some very good points though but a few small changes would make a
good machine excellent.

David

David,

I don't know if you receive the Infotech magazine, but Brian Hartgen did an
excellent in-depth review of the Pocket this month during which he pointed
out a number of irritations with the unit, as well as many points in its
favour.

The main irritations seemed to be the sluggishness when moving around in a
Daisy book and the failure of the unit to speak the titles of audio files
when moving through the menu structure.

Does this new firmware version address either of these issues? I don't have
a Pocket, and although I was thinking I might get one at some point, I don't
think I would until these two drawbacks are sorted out.

Thanks,

Caroline.
