Hi Clive,

Yes, such a device does exist as has been mentioned a couple of times.
Those people informing you that all portable media players have to be
synched are speaking despite not being completely informed.

A talking Rockboxed Sansa Fuze, which is available from
talkingmp3players.com and comes in 4 and 8 GB, has the capabilities
and can perform as you have outlined. We also carry the Sansa E200
Series, currently in 6 and 8 GB sizes.

These players are easy for a blind/vision impaired person to use. We
have customers who range in age from 8 to 82 years old, men and women,
computer literate and not, and from completely blind to completely
sighted. With your purchase, you get free tech support for any
questions or problems you may encounter.

You can do both, copy and paste or synch your player if you prefer,
although I myself prefer to copy and paste and don't see the
attraction of synching my player. You can set up your folders and
files in any way you prefer.

These players use microSD/microSDHC cards for memory expansion, and we
sell microSDHC cards in 4, 8, and 16 GB sizes. The players will use
the relatively new 32-GB microSDHC cards, but we don't carry those
yet.

For more information, please check out the links in my signature
below, especially the demo if you wish to experience what they sound
like and some of their capabilities.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm
on the digest, so it may be quicker to contact me privately.

Regards,

Laz

Hi all,

I'm now beginning to think that the Apple ITunes programme and IPods
may not be for me. I can't run to a Victor player upwards of £200 at
present.

Are there any portable players out there which   :

are Easy for a VI person to use;
don't rely on syncing from within complex computer programmes but
instead let you copy and paste mp3 files from your computer to your
portable device;
have at least 4gb storage capacity, or play music stored on SD cards.

I've heard it said that all portable players need you to sync from
your computer through ITunes, Windows Media Player or whatever. I've
heard other people say that this is nonsense.

#so, does the device I want actually exist?

Thanks,
Clive
