David, I'm in Canada. Whenever I go over to Scotland with my Toshiba laptop, I borrow a cord from my brother who lives over there. This cord that he gives me was from his old electric shaver or electric radio or some little appliance. I simply plugged it into the power cord of my laptop, right at that wee junction box halfway down the wire. The business end was now 3 pins UK and that was all that mattered. So, for you, simply have someone cut off the two pin Canadian plug and wire in a new UK wall plug. Nothing else is required.
