Eleanor when in windows explorer you could try copying the My Docs icon using
the application key and paist it to the desktop, or right click on the My Docs
icon it you are using the mouse and go to the desktop and right click again and
go down to paist.

I lost this icon on my desktop and want to restore it. It is something
that happened to me in past years and I was given information about how to
restore it. I will post the information given below but where it says to go to
Advanced tab, I do not have an Advanced tab and thus cannot complete the
instructions. I am using Windows XP Pro and here is what I was told in the
past. Any suggestions greatfully received thank you.

    1) Open windows explorer via start/programs/accessories/windows explorer
    2) choose folder option via tools
    3) click view tab
    4) in the advanced setting look for 'show my document on the desktop i.e
have it ticked and click OK
