Andy, You can use whichever you wish.  My understanding is that RPI differs
from CPI in that it contains housing costs, which CPI does not.  That means
that RPI is currently higher than CPI.  From memory RPI is currently just
over 5%.

Thanks Richard, had looked there, but wasn't sure if to use the     RPI OR
CPI for my calculation, it suggests RPI but says the government since 2003,
have used CPI to calculate inflation -

Hi all -
 
I'm trying to discover what an amount in 2007 is worth today, using the RPI
only. My Google searches have found certain websites that have calculator
tools, but I'm not convinced I'm getting the correct result from what I am
doing, or from how they are calculating.
 
Does anybody have the ability to make this kind of calculation, or know of a
strait forward website that can do this for me?
