I don't think you're supposed to ignore them. I think the belief is that
it makes websites more accessible if you add landmarks. And indeed, if
used properly, maybe they could. I haven't read up enough about it but
it's an Aria thing, isn't it?

Damon,

You and someone else have mentioned this term "landmark" before, but
last time I asked what it meant, no-one replied!

It'd be good to know what they are, so I can avoid them if needed.
It's just that it's not a term I've ever heard, not can I find any
information on the term on the web, wikipedia, w3 etc.
