Greetings andy,

The Sony MZB100 minidisk machine *does* have a power supply but it is
*not* usually supplied with the machine.

The battery compartment you will find if:

Place the machine on it's front, with the speaker and microphones facing
*away* from you.

On the edge nearest to you, there is a slightly indented and |I **do** mean
**slightly** indented, flange made of plastic, if you feel about half an
inch in from the edge you will find a clip arrangement.

Press slightly down on the flap and slide it gently but firmly towards you,
the flap should then slide out towards you a short distance and then can be
turned upwards on a hinge located either side of the ends of the flap,
don't force it, the flap is not very strong.

You will then find a small recess, large enough to take a single double a
battery, I think the "bobble" end goes to the right and the "flat" to the
left.

Having placed the battery firmly into the recess, gently swing the flap
downwards so that it lies flat on the machine, it will jut out about an
eighth of an inch, so gently push it away from you, it should then click
into place - job done.

To find the place where the mains adaptor plugs in, turn the machine over
with the speaker and built-in microphones facing upwards and away from you,
feel on the back edge at the left hand end, there is a very very small
socket on the back edge, almost at the left hand end. The socket is
slightly raised on a square pertruberence.

There is a useful tape containing the user guide (read by a synthetic voice
using eloquence) which can be obtained, I can let you have details (unless
somebody else has, as I've just noticed there are a couple of other
messages further down my list I've yet to see).

I've had one of these machines since January 2003 and have been extremely
pleased except for one thing. I find it is very sniffy about disks. Even
well known brands, it often will not read. Yet, some I have obtained very
cheaply it has accessed with no problems.

Does anybody know if there is a minidisk cleaner which works something like
a tape head cleaner? if so, where can I get one from?

All the best

from:

Colin R. Howard.
