It's difficult to know. RNIB are catering for the lowest common
denominator elderly blind person. They're giving access to the default
TV experience.

What they should note is that from the first quarter of next year,
Project Canvas flips into action and Freeview becomes an old fashioned
platform, making way for YouView.

YouView has everything you ever wanted from digital terrestrial
reception, , around 40 TV channels and radio, but also has a broadband
connection hence making video on demand part of the default and everyday
TV option. VOD is becoming extremely popular with older people on
VirginMedia and there is no reason to believe that VOD via YouView won't
be as popular.

YouView is set to be the basic default TV experience by the year 2020
but will be launched next year so I'd rather hope that any innovations
would be around YouView rather than Freeview.

Note: YouView is the expected launch name but it could end up as
something different. It's a mixture of YouTUbe and Freeview and gets
across the idea that downloadable TV is just as much a part of the
offering as broadcast digital TV.
