I use ftp explorer to upload my files.

you can get this from:

www.jfwlitee.com

this is similar to windows explorer in layout and is easy to use. you just keep the files on your hd, and when you want to publish them, enter the ftp info into ftp explorer, then hit connect. hit file then upload, navigate to the file you want to publish and then hit enter on it, there it is, published. ----- Original Message -----

Subject: [access-uk] Uploading a web page to an FTP site

Hi all

I have an HTML document which has been written in Microsoft Word and am
trying to upload it to an FTP site. I am able to copy it to the right
folder, but then if I try and access it from Internet Explorer I just get a
list of files.and can eventually access the page if I click on the file
called Index.htm. When I am logged into the SFTP server, if I click on
Properties when the file is highlighted, there is an area which has columns
labelled "Read", "Write" and "Execute". On the line which says "Owner"
there is a tick in the columns "Read" and "Write". On the line which says
"Group" there is a tick in the column "Read", and the same with the line
which says "All Users". Is this anything to do with why I can't access the
page properly? If I change any of these tick boxes I get an error message
saying that I can't change the permissions.

I have looked in the Windows Help for how to publish a web page, but it
talks about going into My Computer and clicking the file and choosing
"Publish my file to the web" (or something like that) under File and Folder
Tasks. I can't find "File and Folder Tasks" anywhere!!!!

The silly thing is that I have managed to do this before when using Windows
98 (I'm now using XP Home), either using Web Publishing Wizard or copying
and pasting into my FTP folder - I can't remember wich now as it was so long
ago!!

Can anyone help me with this?
