Chris, under setup is her soundcard select for input and output and not just the default device.

This ensures that the correct driver is being used.

Subject: [access-uk] Ventrilo problem

Hi all,
E-mailing on behalf of a friend who needs urgent help with Ventrilo.
Everything's set up correctly, however she is heavily distorting whilst I'm
not. We think it's a problem with her microphone, but if I can hear her on
Windows Live without distortion, why not Ventrilo? I'm not quite sure if
she's running the beta, but when I told her to download it I told her to
press t 5 times and press enter on the download button, so she should have
the beta. She's using Windows XP Home SP2 with JAWS 8. Thanks in advance for
the help.
