Hi DJ, she has a Realtek AC97 sound card whilst I have the RealTek High 
Definition Audio sound card.

Partially true, it's the difference between using a possible generic driver
and pointing exactly to the device.

Something to try.

Also, what soundcard hasshe got?

Is it capable of using the audio codecs Ventrilo uses?
