Hi Ray,

Yes, you are right in that it is a USB 1.1 device.

All the best

Damon, , I'm not sure if any of the folders on the supplied card apart from
the notes folder are actually created when you get the Victor Stream. I had
to create the $VRDTB or whatever its called for DAISY books myself. (Then
you have to create sub-folders to contain the individual DAISY books
themselves.) Much the same goes for none DAISY books, music, etc.

, haven't actually tried connecting the Victor Stream directly to my PC as I
have a card reader. I think the Stream is a USB 1.1 device, so, if I'm
right, file transfer would be slower via the reader's own USB socket. (this
is hinted at by HumanWare who say an external card reader for transfer is
faster.

Don't know if HumanWare were getting grief over the delays, but I wish they
had also shipped the VR Companion software mentioned in the tutorial,
because other's are coming to grief getting to terms with the folder
structure and copying files and books over to the stream.
OK if you are used to file management etc but many aren't.

I know someone has set up a UK Victor Stream list, but too busy I'm afraid
to search that out.

HTH.

Hi there.
Just got my Victor Stream thru the post and want to add some text files to
it.
When I connect the player to my PC, it slows my windows explorer down
horrendously. So navigating to the Mobile Device folder has taken me about 5
or 10 minutes.
Once in the folder, I noted that there were no $VR labelled sub-folders.
So I took the lead out and put it back in again.
This time two folders showed up: the Notes Folder and one for audio
bookmarks.
I waited a while to see if any further sub folders might appear but they
didn't. Took the lead out, put it back in again, still only the 2 folders. I
need the $text folder to appear and the $talking book folder so I can put
some content on it.
Is this a common experience? If so it's absolutely dreadful. The point of
this machine is for you to use it in conjunction with your PC easily and
speedily.
I'm guessing that buying an SD card reader really might be the only way
forward is that what everyone is finding?
Are we expecting a fix for this in the next firmware update?
Really very bad. Good machine, nice idea, great sound, love the recording
(though buggy), like the speech synth but this takes the biscuit.
Any thoughts appreciated
.Damon
