Hi Douglas,
Just got back to my Vista heap, and no, Lock does not appear
in the Classic (XP) type view of the Start Menu - which
isn't actually as complete a view as I had expected.

Many thanks, George - I must spend some time in the Help and
Support and have a list of
Keyoard shortcuts etc. handy for future use.
Two additional queries though. I am using the Classic
Start menu to make the learning
curve a little less steep! Would the padlock still be
displayed?
Also the situation was complicated by the loss of speech and
(I believe) by the failure of the
system to respond to any key presses. I thought of
alt/ctrl and del but forgot that on this
model (SSatellite Pro A120-186) the del key is up on the top
row rather than near the space
bbar as it was on my old laptop!
I think that I am going to cheat and plug in a USB keyboard
temporarily to remove at least
one uncertainty!
