I can't believe that there are only 2 phones that VF do with Talx! What happens to all those who want a new one? is it that they only put it on two or they only have two that it is applicable to put it on, I.E. could someone buy a phone after checking the Talx website and finding the listed phones and then downloading it for themselves - as I did 18 months ago after much to-do-ing with VF about me not being able to get a new phone and not getting hold of anyone who new about talx.

t-mobile tell me that they don't offer talks and that to install it could nulllify the warrantee. I am looking further into this. as far as I am concerned though t-mobile is the ultimate in tokenism as they have adisability related helpline that can supply information on audio tape or inBraille and that seems to be about it. nothing really that ordinary ccustomer services staff couldn't arrange. I am challenging them about their attitude to talks, but it doesn't help much when the manufacturer is allowing itself to get behind on the technology it supports.Nuance is a big company and there is little excuse for the fact that all thephones it works with are now virtually discontinued with the possible exception of the Nokia N70 and Nokia 9300. Orange tell me that they're already giving Talks to some VI customers, but this seems to be a pretty ad hoc arrangement. However, they say they hope to have it on a more formalised basis in the new year. But Vodafone are actually in a contractual agreement with Nuance. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of kevin and emma Sent: 16 November 2006 12:48 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Vodaphone contacts hi all, are the other mobile providers as confused as this?i'm considering moving over to orange, but will i face the same maize of dead ends and misinformation with them too? kevin (lord L) "Civilization exists by geological consent, subject to change without notice." - will durant email/msn: kream@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Macrae" <ian.macrae@xxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2006 11:09 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Vodaphone contacts There is obviously a deal of confusion around. I was told by the same guy yesterday that the communicator was available. A colleague has told me that she's been offered an N73 with Talks installed by tomorrow from Vodafone. My understanding is that Nuance haven't yet finished the re-write for that handset. Curiouser and curiouser. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mark Threadgold Sent: 16 November 2006 08:09 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Vodaphone contacts Ian, Having spoken to Neil Warren, the new chap looking after Talks at Vodaphone, he assures me the 9500 is no longer available through Vodaphone at all. The 9300 is the model they now supply with Talks. I didn't ask about other models as it is the communicator I want to replace my 9210i. Regards, Mark Threadgold Of all the things I have ever lost, the thing I miss most is my mind.... -----Original Message----- From Ian Macrae Adrian and all, I've been given to understand that a variety of handsets are available with Talks on a variety of tariffs. These still include the N70 and the 9500. In fact I had a Talks enabled N70 from them yesterday although admittedly it did take their press bod some time to get it from elsewhere in the organisation. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq http://www.bbc.co.uk/ This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated.
