A speaker is useful, like the kind that come with Trekker. Something like this can clip to your collor so you can hear Access, have your phone in your pocket and not have to where headphones. I think I've only used Access once or twice with my cane, its neally always with my Dog and I definitely haven't done a truly unknown route with Access when using my cane. This is because I'm a Dog user now so don't use my cane much but I do feel my Dog gives me more freedom and in my view actually helps me get more out of a GPS system, not prevent.
